next project: bathroom

For a four-bedroom house, the original bathroom dimension is a little on the small side. Accomodating a bath, toilet and vanity basin, there is no room for a seperate shower. The plan is to extend the room by just under a metre, as shown on the plans above, to allow a 900mm quadrant shower cubicle to be fitted.

The original bathroom is also in need of some updating and would benefit from   re-arrangement as the existing vanity unit is chamferred toward the door. The extent of the work is greater than first appears, not least because this is the only bathroom in the house and therefore needs to be kept in service for most of the time.

Extending the bathroom means nibbling some of the footprint of the rear bedroom. This is of course a compromise to the bedroom, but the reduced size will still be big enough to accommodate a double bed.
